When Madie & Alex give you lemons, you make "something with lemons"! Especially when there is a special occasion to celebrate. Which, in this particular instance, turned out to be Lemon Debutante Cake (a la Miette) and Meyer Lemonade for Vicki's Birthday.
I got the recipe for the Lemon Debutante Cake from my gorgeous, beloved Miette Cookbook (thanks to Wonder Woman upstairs), but "The Wire Whisk" also published/shared it here if you're interested in trying this beauty out for yourself.
The Meyer Lemonade Recipe* is pretty simple.
1 cup of freshly squeezed meyer lemon juice
2 cups of simple syrup*
8 cups of cold water
Ice, ice, ice
Simple Syrup
2 cups of granulated sugar
2 cups of water
1 tablespoon of corn syrup
Combine all ingredients in medium saucepan, heat on stovetop over medium high and stir until all the sugar is dissolved and liquid looks clear. Let cool to room temperature then cover and refrigerate.
*Recipe is also posted at bottom of page*
Thanks, Rice Fam, for the lemons, Cervarich's for letting me borrow ALL your lemon juicers, and last but not least Vicki & Jim for hosting a wonderful Barbecue Dinner Birthday! Oh my gosh, Bomb food from Phat Matt's (I think we got the Memphis Style Ribs & Texas Style Brisket -- whatever it was, it was deeee-lish) as well as the unbeatable cole slaw from Bakesale Betty's.
Look at that Vstipo Go with her ipad mini and her instagram.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUUU!
